Post match review: Ipswich 1 - 1 United

Image
It was an interesting afternoon in Suffolk for the new manager. Author - Olivia T We had to settle for a draw in Ruben Amorim's first game as manager, despite a dream start from Marcus Rashford, who fired us ahead just 81 seconds in. Ipswich hit back before half-time through Omari Hutchinson, and our goalkeeper, Andre Onana, had to pull off two stunning saves to keep Liam Delap at bay. It was a frustrating result for the fans, as the team struggled to keep Ipswich under control at times and found the home defence stubbornly resilient whenever a chance seemed to open up. Bruno Fernandes came close with a late free-kick, but Ipswich thoroughly earned their share of the points—and without Onana's heroics, they could easily have taken all three. A great win for Ruud on his last match as interim manager We emerged the victors with a convincing 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League in Ruud's final game as interim boss. Goals from Fernandes and Garnacho alongside an own goal gave us the win. Author - Liam C Manu on the spin 🌀 Watch extended highlights from our win over Leicester 🎬 #MUFC || #MUNLEI — Manchester United (@ManUtd) November 11, 2024 Andre Onana - 8 Had little to do but stepped up for a crucial save when called upon. Diogo Dalot - 5 Struggled to keep up with Fatawu throughout the match. Maybe needs to be taken out of team for a bit. Clearly still an important player. Matthijs de Ligt - 8 Strong and dependable, showing consistency across the game. Lisandro Martinez - 7 Had a couple of nervy moments against Ayew but was generally solid. Noussair Mazraoui - 8 A shrewd addition—his minimum standard is still impressive. He will prove to be one of our best signings in recent seasons.  Casemiro - 8 Do

Post match review: United 2 - 0 PAOK

"Follow, follow, follow, United are going Bilbao..." Ok, maybe too early to get carried away but that was a much needed win at Old Trafford. Author - Liam C Amad Diallo’s second-half double gave Ruud's reds the win they needed over Greek champions PAOK to kick-start our Europa League campaign and give incoming boss Ruben Amorim a shot at sealing a coveted top-eight finish.  Amad was by far our biggest goal threat. He broke the deadlock when he sent a looping header into the far corner five minutes after the interval. The Ivorian sealed the win when he curled home from the edge of the area 13 minutes from time. Tarik Tissoudall wasted PAOK’s best opportunity when he failed to convert from eight yards with only Andre Onana to beat. Onana also made an acrobatic save to deny Mady Camara during a largely drab opening half.  More reaction coming up on European Super Football

Post match review: United 1 - 1 Chelsea

One point gained or two points dropped? A closer look at the performance Author - Liam C Van Nistelrooy has managed to draw plenty of effort from his players while he fills the role until Amorim arrives to replace the departed Erik ten Hag, but he was unable to inspire much genuine quality. Defensively, United held their ground against Chelsea’s threat, but a lack of creativity and sharpness ultimately meant we couldn’t secure the win. Rashford’s volley was our best chance until Sanchez clumsily challenged Hojlund, who seemed to be moving away from goal after losing control. It was a deserved lead, Pity it didn't last. Click here to discover more Manchester United news and stories from European Super Football. We have a goalscoring problem Young striker Hojlund had a quiet game overall, while Alejandro Garnacho seemed to epitomise United’s performance. The Argentine worked tirelessly, yet his finishing lacked precision—particularly in the second half when he scuffed a straightf

Amorim appointed as new manager

Another new manager. Another new era. The club have announced that Ruben Amorim will be taking on the role of Head Coach for the men’s first team, pending his work visa approval. Amorim as Sporting manager. Picture from Football pictures. Author - Liam C Amorim has signed a contract until June 2027, with the club holding an option for an additional year. He will officially join United on Monday, 11 November, once he completes his commitments with his current club. Amorim is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young coaches. A highly accomplished figure both as a player and as a manager, his achievements include leading Sporting CP to two Primeira Liga titles—one of which was the club’s first in 19 years. In the meantime, Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to manage the team until Amorim’s arrival. My reaction and more This feels like a more positive step. He is among the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football. Highly decorated as both a
